Eye Candy: Movements in Red (Infrared Time Lpase)

Andrew 's description from his Vimeo post:

"A moving infrared timelapse movie.

This is a personal project culminated from years of shooting IR stills and never really being satisfied with the results. Shot primarily in Albemarle County, Virginia, the movie was captured using a Canon 5D mark II converted with a 720nm IR filter over the sensor. The sensor filter allows normal camera operation but shoots only IR images. I used a rail from Dynamic Perception to create the moving images and processed everything in Adode Premiere/After Effects.

Check out my website andrewshurtleff.com to see some cool IR stills under the fine arts section. Thanks for watching."

This Week's Time-Lapse: Temporal Distortion

Been one of those week's when I just haven't been able to make time for much of anything I actually want to do. Gonna try and get some stuff up today. For now, here's another vid from Dakotalapse, on vimeo.

Time-Lapse: The Earth and Stars From Space

The Stars as Viewed from the International Space Station. from AJRCLIPS on Vimeo

Created by photographer Alex Rivest, by enhancing publicly available data from NASA’s Johnson Space Center to focus primarily on the field of stars moving in the background, the above time lapse is filled with an array of amazing images. From glowing green aurora to, to entire continents lit up by the night time lights of civilization, it’s truly an awesome piece of video. My only critique would be the music (of course). Because personally, I think smooth jazz should remain buried behind the disturbingly overgrown pubic mounds of 1970’s vintage Hardcore pornography where it belongs, and I’d have chosen something more subtle and soothing to go along with the video. Like, say, Hate Eternal’s, “The Art of redemption”. Or maybe a classical piece like, say, SLAYER’s, “Seasons in The Abyss”.

Go ahead, try it. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Okay, probably not.

But It’d mean a lot to me if you did. =)

Yes, I know I just posted a Time lapse, and this makes two video only posts in a row, and though I do strive for variety- this was just too cool not to share now.

Enjoy.

Time lapse: Compressed 02, Soap Bubbles & Ferrofluids

Compressed 02 from Kim Pimmel on Vimeo.

Red dye, soap bubbles, ferrofluid (a liquid which becomes strongly magnetized in the presence of a magnetic field), capillary action, and magnetism, combine to make an oddly mesmerizing time lapse.

Enjoy.

Time lapse, "Sky", by Phillip Bloom

Sky from Philip Bloom on Vimeo.

Been a while since I posted a time lapse, so here's a really nice one from Phillip Bloom on vimeo. This probably looks particularly nice in HD, so feel free to turn it on if you can. I Of course, wouldn't know anymore because I can't, since comcast/xfinity has successfully choked the bandwidth on basic service down to the point where I can barely watch videos at all anymore, much less watch HD videos. But I'm not complaining or anything.

Time Lapse and Panoramas- Chiemgau Impressions

Chiemgau impressions from Mario Feil on Vimeo.

The music in this clip isn't really my thing, but I am a sucker for time lapse footage and HD panoramas, which this video from Mario Feil on Vimeo has plenty of.

Enjoy.

Lunar Eclipse Time Lapse

Tuesday marked the first time a full lunar eclipse had occurred on the winter solstice since 1638, (which I'm sure was a sign of the end of the world or the return Cthulhu or something, but nothing significant came up when I did a search, so maybe all the crazies missed this one) which I missed because..well, I forgot. But that's okay because it's going to happen again in 2094 which is great because I'll only be...Okay, I'll be dead.

Fortunately, that doesn't really matter much because a full lunar eclipse happens every year, they just don't happen on the winter solstice very often, which isn't really all that significant other than the fact that it makes for an extra long dark night. Even better, University of Florida professor and science photographer William Castleman managed to catch a time lapse of the event and posted it on his Vimeo account and now, I'm posting it here. Very cool.

The music is really nice as well,Claude Debussy Nocturnes: Sirènes. enjoy.

Time Lapse Video From Space

Posted by YouTube user: OregonStateUniv

Check out this time lapse created by NASA astronaut Don Pettit while on board the ISS, very cool. The strange green lights you see, in case you didn't know, are the aurora borealis or northern lights as seen from space. Once again head over to this article on wired science for additional stills from the ISS and more info on the video.
