The Japanese Giant Salamander
So you can imagine my surprise when I discovered that apparently- GIANT SALAMANDERS ARE A THING! And I mean, actual GIANT salamanders. Cause, ya know, usually when ya hear the word giant, it just means as compared to regular sized, whatevers. But these things are HUGE! As in "Hey, look at me. I'm a 5 foot long, 80 lbs amphibian", huge. This may be one of my new favorite animals, ever.

Creepy/Weird Japanese Thing of The Week: Shiri The Emo Robo-Ass
That’s actually the excuse behind this particular bit of creepy. It’s about how the robot mimics emotions, with tactile transformations of…
Okay…Ya know what;
IT’S A ROBOT-ASS THAT TWITCHES AND CLENCHES ITSELF WHEN YOU SPANK AND TICKLE IT! There, ya see what I had to write? Anytime the phrase, “Spank and tickle it” appears in any description of whatever the hell it is you’re doing, it’s not science anymore! It's recreation! And it's creepy.
I feel dirty again.
I’m gonna go now.

Creepy-weird Japanese thing of the week: Hatsune Miku, The World’s First Holographic Pop Star
So this week’s Creepy-Weird thing from japan is a little more on the weird side then the creepy. But Leave it to Japan to make the worlds first synthetic pop star, and to form said pop star, in the uber-cute, uncomfortably-sexualized-schoolgirl motif, that we’ve all come to know and love.
Hatsune was created by Crypton Future Media as the face of vocaloid, a Yamaha created technology, which gives music composers the ability to synthesize singing by simply typing in lyrics and melody. Exit Tunes Presents Vocalogenesis feat. Hatsune Miku, became the first vocaloid album to top the Japanese weekly Oricon album charts, in 2010.
Hatsune had already begun “performing” live in holographic form before her album even made the charts. In August 0f 2009, Hatsune appeared “live” on stage for the first time at the Saitama Super Arena. A performance soon followed up with an overseas appearance, on November 21, 2009, in Singapore.
And my friends wounder why I gave up trying to become a musician.

Sense-Roid, The creepy Japanese Device That Hugs You Back
A few weeks ago on Compendium, I shared THIS creepy Japanese kissing machine. Well, in news that’s seriously making me consider adding a “Creepy Japanese Thing Of The Week” post. Students at the University of Electro-Communications in Japan, have designed a pair of vests designed to let people hug and caress themselves. Really? Cause by my count, the last thing people need, is help “caressing” themselves.
Described by it's creators in the video description on Youtube as:
“What type of emotions could be obtained if you were able to hug yourself? When we hug someone, we feel a sense of ease coming from emotions such as belief, security and love. However, it is not possible to hug oneself, who is the closest person. To experience this situation, we proposed a tactile device called the Sense-Roid. The system is composed of a lay figure (In the case of this video, the “lay figure” in question, is a headless, armless, sewer’s mannequin. See, and you thought it was creepy.) with tactile sensors to detect the user’s caressing motion, and a tactile jacket with vibrators and artificial muscles to reflect the caressing motion to the user. As a result, users caress themselves through our Sense-Roid. We believe that this self-caressing experience will enlighten people about the value of caressing.”
The good news, depending on how strong your desire to someday own an interactive humping appliance may be, is that the creators of the Sense-Roid say there are no future plans for the device. And judging by the demeanor of the student demonstrating the invention in the video, it was all meant to be a bit tongue and cheek anyway.
Still, if the adult industry did manage to get a hold of this technology, ugly things WOULD happen. Ugly, dirty, filthy things…
